Quite often, we have to let go of one thing before we can have or discover the better thing. I have seen this often in my life, and here are a few illustrations of what that can mean…

We cannot have the relationship we want unless we relinquish the relationship we don’t want.

We cannot pursue meaning and truth if we continue holding on to lies and falsehoods

We cannot enjoy and care about others if all we focus on is ourselves

We cannot be fully spiritual if we are focused on the flesh

We cannot know God or His truth while holding on to idols and caricatures of Him in our religions.

We cannot be free from our sins and past failures by holding on to them. We have to let them go through the redemption offered by Christ and the hope of an eternal future

Just let it go…and be renewed by the Spirit of and faith IN Christ.

Romans 12:2 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
