“But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
You believe but you “deny the power thereof”. This verse represents many people “of faith”. Many of us believe the historical science of Jesus’ life, crucifixion, and resurrection…yet we have no passion or commitment to the meaning of those truths.
Many people “believe that” Jesus resurrected from the dead, but somehow miss the power and person of His Holy Spirit to put their faith in that same power to resurrect us from our own deadly sins or conditions. That was the reason and purpose for what Jesus the Christ did.
We forget to give God our submission to the faith He can and will provide to overcome our circumstances. We submit to our conditions instead of claiming His power to change them.
We hold on to our thoughts and perspectives instead of pursue HIS thoughts and perspectives. If you don’t know where to look for that, it starts with the words and revelations in the Holy Scriptures. It starts with His words that can shape our thoughts and actions. We are what we think and believe, and those are shaped by what we read and study. These are all choices of our human will.
To THINK something is versus KNOWING something is just a matter of experience. We should always be open to experiencing the impossible versus thinking it is impossible.
Swimming versus drowning is simply a difference of taking right actions to keep ourselves afloat. Don’t let circumstances sink you. Take the power and actions to overcome circumstances. If you are going under, grab on to His faith He provides and allow His helping hand of assistance to support you. Take instructions on what you need to do and start swimming…upstream if you must. Stand still, do nothing, and you will drown in your sin and sorrow.
The power is there if you do the right things…not by giving in to doubt and sin. It is the essence of being righteous and overcoming any obstacle. God’s resurrection power is what it takes. You cannot do it without that power which is not of this world nor comes from YOU…
