“The Conclave” movie
I write this review fresh after seeing the recently released movie, “The Conclave”.
I have mixed emotions about this movie. As it sucks you into the vortex of current events, it is amazingly timed to the recent real life death of a liberal pope and the imminent gathering of real cardinals to a real conclave to determine the next head of the largest united religious organization in the world. There must exist some prophets in Hollywood.
On one hand, I have to admire the combination of great actors of our time combined into such a cinematic undertaking. To film such a long movie on ONE location, movie set, and still keep one’s attention is a real feat. Ralph Finnes is the lead actor obviously bringing talent and believability to his role as lead Cardinal of the conclave. One then gets lulled into the satisfaction of seeing this depiction of such sinful, idiotic behaviors on the part of the religious leaders so as to give any secularist the smug satisfaction of saying, “see, I told you that all religion is bunk and about human power, influence, and money.” The majority of us have seen and understood the reality of fallen religious leaders for many generations now. All of us have been affected by this huge cultural wave of religious indifference and prolific secularism leading to the never ending promotion of vacuous sensationalism and death of true faith in a “god”. Now here is a movie that meticulously leads us down that path of secular redemption from any Biblical absolutes or moral authority to guide us. This movie presents very underhandedly a new “moral” order that this WOKE generation wants us to embrace or at least tolerate.
Effectively, this script leads us to the “aha” moment when the true “hero” reveals themself to be a woman clothed as an androgynous person who no one knew sneaking in as the unknown “Cardinal”. This woman, dressed in religious capes and skirts, hides their secret “struggle” with their self identification that seems to be a new norm in this world. Increasingly confused people are accentuating the new “in” trend of ignoring biological sexuality in order to justify a new level of hedonistic behavior to where one can have sex with or identify as any sex or combination thereof simply based on their feelings or rejection of their own true biology. We are now supposed to accept this as “normal” behavior and label people any pronoun they choose for their proclaimed self identity. How insane and ridiculous is this?
Yet, here we are with the Hollywood elites once again putting all the best actors and money behind an opportunistic movie that questions the integrity of the Roman Catholic Church, and it could be argued it sets the stage for a non-patriarchal pope to be the next leader of that global order of cardinals that makes up the Roman Catholic church. “Why not?” even many Catholics would ask. While much of the movie may represent historical veracity as we didn’t need this movie to tell us that churches and the crusades they have caused in history were profane, tyrannical, and hypocritical…this movie takes the ending to a whole other level of elevating deviation of sexual identity or mores to fit the mold of todays LGBQTXXXXXXXXX and “woke” liberal progressives who simply want to do away ASAP with traditional families and hetero relationships as the status quo. We elevate the abhorrent in order to condemn millenniums of natural and traditional roles and relationships via families, communities of families, and countries full of those communities. Movies like this attempt to make us hate traditional men…especially religious ones…in favor of the TRUE heroines of women who are not hetero or are simply confused and broken in their self identity but still heroes nonetheless for their “honesty”.
I can only hope that any families who allow their children to view this obvious anti-establishment subterfuge, manipulation of ideologies, and basic propaganda against traditions most cultures are happily founded on…will be ready to discuss intelligently the true facts of life and normality with those children. There really are absolutes in the truth of what is male and female. There really are thousands of years of cultural/societal order based on organized families and traditional hetero relationships that have overcome every cruel corruption that has tried to negate nature and truth. The extremists for change in our culture are truly getting bolder and convincing too many otherwise intelligent individuals to accept or not question these abhorrent attitudes that are challenging children and basic sexuality. We are living in dark times, and this movie is quietly one of the darkest I have seen in a long while.
